We are:
People who believe in the library and its community. As a service organization, the Friends contribute to the enhancement of library services and promote the use of the library by everyone in York County.
Walking, Talking public relations ambassadors for the library. We encourage volunteers to assist the library staff and we sponsor various library programs for the public. We heighten community awareness of the library and its services.
Organizers of volunteers and fund-raising events, such as book sales, that supply the library with thousands of dollars each year to support book and computer purchases, Summer Reading Programs for children, community services and all of the activities of the York County Public Libraries.
Enhancers who raise money for library materials, equipment, facilities and programs beyond the level of the library's tax-supported budget. Over the years, Friends have provided computers, microfiche, music, language aids, VCRs, story cassettes, periodicals and videos for YOU, the residents of York County.
Advocates, instrumental in raising the awareness of the public, the County Supervisors, and the Legislators at the state level to the needs of the library and the community.
