Around York County

Published on: Dec 12, 2003

The York County Historical Museum recently received a pair of prints from the logbook of a British warship that shows the Yorktown and Gloucester shoreline c. 1754-1756. The prints were made by The Mariners' Museum in Newport News from the original logbook of HMS Norwich and HMS Success, which is in their collection, through a special arrangement with the Yorktown Branch of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities. APVA Branch Director Nancy Lee Clark presented the prints to Bonnie Karwac, museum director, at the November 2003 meeting of the coordinating committee for the Jamestown 2007 Community Program in Yorktown.
