Happy New Year!
Our January meeting of the York Retired Teachers Association will take place on Wednesday, January 18, at the Boys and Girls Club located adjacent to Yorktown Middle School. The meeting will begin at 11:00. The menu will consist of a choice of chicken salad croissants or roast beef and cheese wraps served with potato salad, country vegetable soup, assorted dessert tray, and beverage. (Phone tree callers will contact you to request your menu choice.) The cost of the meal will be $15.00. If possible, please be prepared to pay with check or exact dollar amount.
If you plan to attend and have not been contacted by a member of the phone tree committee by Friday, January 13th, please call Bev Woodard at 566-2205 to make your reservation. An accurate lunch count is important. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Eric Williams, Superintendent, York County School Division. We have some special activities planned, so we hope you will be able to join us for the fun!
If any member has read a good book and would like to share a recommendation with the group, please email me the name of the book, author, and a brief description of what the book is about. I will be glad to publish the recommendations in The Chalkboard.
In March, our meeting is at Crooks Memorial Methodist Church. We will have our annual auction. Please start setting aside those items that you think you might wish to donate so that you can bring them to the March meeting. Handmade items and baked goods are always welcome! The money raised will benefit our Scholarship Fund. Lets make this our best auction ever!
I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on January 18th.
PS For those who may need assistance with parking and entrance into the building, please go all the way to the far side of the building. There is an entrance there. We will have someone stationed at that door who will help you into the building, and will park your car for you if you would like.
