YORK RETIRED TEACHERS ASSOCIATION
MAKING CONNECTIONS THAT MATTER
February 28, 2012
Greetings YRTA Members,
Our March meeting and Scholarship Fund Auction will take place on Thursday, March 15, 2012, at 11:30 am at Crooks Memorial Methodist Church on Cook Road in Yorktown. Lunch will be a choice of grilled salmon or grilled chicken breast, vegetables, dessert, and beverage. The cost of the luncheon will be $15.00. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO INVITE A GUEST!! We would love to have others join us and participate in the auction.
The telephone callers need to have the count in by Saturday, March 10. If you have not been contacted by then and you do plan to attend, please call Bev Woodard at 566-2205. Be aware that once the count is given, we must pay for the number of lunches that are ordered. It is very important that our count be accurate. Make sure if you are bringing a guest that you give your guests name and entre selection to your contact person. When paying on the day of the meeting, please try to have the exact amount. That will make collecting the money easier
Each member is asked to donate at least one item to be auctioned. If you prefer to make a monetary donation to the scholarship fund you may do so. However, please specify that the money is for the scholarship fund. We have had some very interesting auction items in the past. Be as creative and resourceful as you wish in determining just what you wish to contribute, keeping in mind that this is our major fundraising source for the scholarship. Your participation is very important and greatly appreciated.
I look forward to seeing you March 15th. Lets make this the best auction ever!!
PS Sometimes it may be difficult to think what to donate to the auction. As a suggestion for those who are looking for ideas, theme baskets make good auction items. These baskets can be as diverse and creative in content as you care to make them. Possible theme ideas might include a gardeners basket, a book lovers basket, an Easter themed basket, or perhaps a chocolate lovers basket. There are so many possibilitieslet your imagination soar!
