This time we have a lot going on.
Jim Chapman has submitted a short story to critique. This is one we've seen before, and he has made changes in response to our previous critique. It will be interesting to see how his story has improved.
Leonard's chapter 3 is still in play. I myself have yet to critique it--my apologies Leonard! He could probably use a couple more critiques before moving on in his Dr. Izak story, so let's keep him in mind when we're downloading manuscripts to critique. (John, by the time you get this, I will have added the HTML versions for you.
If you don't read the paper, John wrote an op-ed article recently. I will bring a copy in for everyone to read.
Ed DeLong in Virginia Beach was recently published, and he sent me the article. I've printed it out and will bring it also on Saturday. Ed is a VWC member and president of the Hampton Roads chapter.
I finally found the short story I was telling everyone about last month--the one that is written entirely as footnotes. It might be worth reading out loud if we have time.
Finally, on Wednesday the 14th I will be speaking to a group of writers in Hampton called the Kinship of Authors. I will invite them to join our chapter, although I will also be telling them they can have their own meetings in Hampton. If all goes well, we will have about 30 new members and a choice of two meetings to attend, one that has a speaker and the critique group.
Also, if the Kinship of Authors joins us, I will want to have a new election so they can have a representative at the state meetings. So let this be advance notice that elections will be held in April.
I was hoping to have a chapter to post on the yahoo site this month, but before I could get very far in my new book, I decided to take another stab at Dancing Lessons. (John, you may have to read it again.)
Barbara, if you go to http://www.groups.yahoo.com/jamesyorkcritiques, you'll find that I've finally figured out how to add you as a member. When you find your name, follow the instructions to have a user name and password and you should be all set.
See you on Saturday.
