Meeting Notice

James-York Chapter of Virginia Writers Club
July 19, 2008 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Tabb Library Study Room

This month we have three manuscripts to review.  The first is by Jim, called "The Cabbage Patch Kid," which Jim promises we will need a Kleenex to read.  By the way, if you haven't yet critiqued last month's submission, "The Desk Drawer," please do so.  Despite his absence from meetings, Jim is offering his critiques of everyone else's work, and he deserves the same from us.

The next is the next part of Jason's book, called "(4) With Teeth and Solo 1 (Mood Music)."  The titles alone make his work worth reading.  Those of us who attended last month's meeting gave Jason a pretty hard time about his last submission, but I suspect that when the book is viewed as a whole, it will all come together nicely.

Finally, I have abandoned my novel Dancing Lessons in favor of another story, which despite all my efforts, will not wait to be written.  I'm writing it as specific scenes, which I will later put in order along with connecting narrative at a later point.  It's called, as you might guess, "Selected Scenes."

I'm still working on getting a notice in the Daily Press regarding our contest, but I did post a message on HRTownSquare and have gotten plenty of reads on it.  One person has contacted me already with a promise to enter the contest.  If I can remember, I will make up flyers and give a few to everyone to post in various places.

See all of you at the meeting on Saturday
