Meeting Notice
James-York Chapter, Virginia Writers Club
August 16, 2008
1:30-3:30 p.m.
Tabb Library Study Room

There are a lot of things going on this month.  First, our contest ends at the end of the meeting.  So far I only have one entry, but I hope to get more this week, and even to have some people show up at the meeting to turn in their entries.

Second, we have a lot of work to critique this month.  It's always nice to have more than can be covered in a single meeting--far better than having a meeting when no one has contributed anything.

For this month, here's what we're working on:

From Jason, "Canon (fodder)."  Who isn't loving his titles?  (Jason, I still need to critique that last couple of pages from last month, and I'll bring you a hard copy to the meeting)

From Carl, "Cutter."  Carl has generously offered to put off his critique so we can cover my screenplay, and as the author I want to take him up on this offer.  However, as chapter president, I have to admit that he uploaded his story first, so we should cover that.

Finally, we have my screenplay "Love By Number,''which I uploaded to the regular members individually earlier this week.  If you haven't been able to open the first attachment, look for the second email in which I upload the PDF.

Since my contribution is so long, and because we have other work to cover, I would like to discuss getting together for an extra meeting.  I want to hear your critiques before I go on vacation next month (because I will miss the meeting).  In early October I will be submitting pages to the Screenwriters Forum in Richmond, so I want to have it as polished as possible before I do that.  I will buy dinner for anyone who is willing to help me out.

Jim will be missing the meeting again this month because of work, but he has uploaded "The Skeleton-Dishwasher 2," a story he revised after getting our critiques earlier this year.  Please don't neglect Jim's work because he won't be at the meeting.

See you all at the meeting on Saturday!

Dorene Braun
Chapter President
