Fellow homeowners,

FYI - Polybutylane, sold under the trade name of Qest, was a popular plumbing material used extensively during the 1980's and up until 1995.  Pipes made of this material will fail over time due to chlorine and other chemicals normally found in water.  In 1995 Qest was decertified as a building material, and Shell Oil Co. lost a class action law suit worth $950M.  If your house was built during this time, recommend you determine what type of water pipes are installed in your house.  If you have Qest, further recommend you educate yourself as to the associated risk.  If you would like to discuss, stop by or call.  I just had new water pipes installed in my house.
